"Mewes is Mewes,
as ever, but he went above and
beyond this time. He's come a long way as an actor who is very
present in the scene. I really impressed upon him that he had to be
prepared for this movie. 'There are real actors in this one,' we kept
telling him. And he held his own against people like Affleck and
Rickman." - Kevin Smith
Jason Mewes is the New Jersey prophet Jay, whose purpose
is mysterious, even to himself. Mewes made his acting debut in Kevin Smith's "Clerks," playing
a verbose stoner named Jay who is never without his taciturn sidekick, Silent Bob. He went on
to reprise the beloved character in "Mallrats" and "Chasing Amy." He also co-starred in
the View Askew production "Drawing Flies."
A native of New Jersey himself, Mewes starred in the MTV Network production "Jay and Silent
Bob's Video Stash" and has appeared in several music videos and commercials.
